7 tips to dress your bump

Choosing maternitywear can be a difficult and daunting task. Here are some top tips from Stephanie Bailey of Mama Muse to make sure all mums can find cool, coveted maternitywear they’ll love during pregnancy. 

1. Invest in basics

Select breathable fabrics such as cotton, bamboo, and linen that will help regulate your temperature. With growing breasts and curves, it’s best to update your undergarments to support and flatter your shape.

2. Block colours

Select block colours rather than busy prints. Darker shades such as black and navy will help give your shape a nice line. Add a pop of colour and fun with some fun accessories such as a scarf or shoes.

3. Dress for your body type

Select silhouettes that are suitable for your body type.

4. Embrace the bump

A bodycon dress is designed to trace your silhouette and should be a wardrobe staple. Not only are bodycons a versatile, they are easy to wear, stylish, and will stretch with you!

5. Denim – JEAN-IUS!

Not only is the jeanswear trend all over the runways right now, but it’s also a fun look to try while expecting. Be jean-inspired from your bump to your toes. Advances in fabric technology and innovation mean that the materials currently being used to develop denim gives more comfort and stretch than ever before. Jeans or jeggings will last the distance and are incredibly versatile.

6. Stay comfortable

Pregnancy can be tough on the feet. Some women find that their feet swell during pregnancy, and some even go up a shoe size! Replace high heels with wedges, and rock some cool ballet flats or sneakers.

7. Get pampered, please!

The last touches are hair and makeup, which will provide the perfect finish and touches to your fabulous new look. Add some gloss, throw on some bling, and book in for a magic mani!
